Pacific Guardian Life Wants You to Know What We Do with Your Personal Information

OVERVIEW

We know that the privacy of your personal information is important to you. That is why we want you to understand what information we collect and how we use it.

Nonpublic personal information (“NPI”) is nonpublic information about you that we obtain in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. We collect and use NPI in order to provide our customers with a broad range of financial products and services as effectively and conveniently as possible.

COLLECTING INFORMATION

The types of information we collect, use, and share may include your name, telephone number, occupation, avocations, Social Security number, address, date of birth, financial history, credit history, medical history, driving record, insurance claims information, and, if applicable, criminal history.

We may collect and maintain your NPI from the following sources:

  • Your applications or other forms submitted directly to us or through our sales force,
  • Your transactions with us and with others,
  • Consumer reporting agencies, public records, medical providers, and other service providers; and
  • Your employer (for employee benefits products only).
SHARING INFORMATION

We do not disclose any NPI about our current or former customers to anyone except as is permitted by law. We do not disclose information about you to third parties who only use the information to market a product or service.

However, as part of our everyday business practices, we may disclose the information that we collect (as described above) about you or others without your permission to the following types of institutions for the reasons described below:

  • Third parties (such as third-party administrators) if the disclosure will enable that party to perform a business, professional, or insurance function for us.
  • Insurance institution, agent, or credit reporting agency in order to detect or prevent criminal activity, fraud, or misrepresentation in connection with an insurance transaction.
  • Insurance regulatory authority, law enforcement, or other governmental authority in order to protect our interests in preventing or prosecuting fraud, or if we believe that you have conducted illegal activities.
SECURITY PROCEDURES

We restrict access to NPI, and only allow disclosures to persons and companies who must use it to assist in providing products or services to you. We maintain reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect NPI.

RIGHT TO ACCESS AND CORRECTION

With certain exceptions, California residents have the right to access and correct the NPI that we collect.
